One of the best things about moving to Greensboro has been our friendship with a fellow artist, Josephus III. Josephus is a poet. He has come to many Greensboro Grubs and left us all speechless. He is also an entrepeneur. He organizes poetry events in Greensboro bringing in poets from all over the country. He does open-mic events called Mo Soul Poetry. Well, I could go on and on.
Last year we directed Josephus in a 90-minute show, "Boundless". The show consisted of poems, articles & prose that Josephus had written over the years. These pieces of work were creatively fused together in a script by a local drama professor, Steve Willis.
This year we directed this show again and it was marvelous. We are so proud of our association with Josephus. We are so happy to be able to have the time and abilities to direct him and watch him grow in the art of Drama as well as that of Poetry.
Hello once again Peculiar ones! So much has happened, is happening and will happen — well, it’s difficult to find the time or the words to tell you all about it.
Let’s just start after Christmas. We took a 19-hour car trip to Omaha, Nebraska in the middle of January to perform at Grace Presbyterian Church. I wouldn’t say that it was dumbest thing we’ve ever done... but pretty close to it!! No one wants to be in Omaha in January... especially the folks who live there! No kidding, we had a great time fell in love with the place but especially in love with Eric & Elaine Olson. Great folks with about 120 kids... don’t know for sure... they were never still long enough for a good count. Plus Elaine has been making and selling mittens this winter. “Why sell mittens?” you ask. Yes, me too. Well, after adopting one child from a hostile enironment Elaine is selling mittens for the money needed for a second adoption. So far about $9000 in the bank... from mittens!! Very cool people.
