New Year’s Eve with City 616

Posted on Tuesday December 18th, 2012

Come Ring In the New Year with City 616 and Peculiar People and Sourwood Sweet!
On December 31 you have the opportunity to ring in the New Year with style, warmth, laughter and more than a bit of fun!! City 616 is hosting a New Year's Dinner and Champagne toasting in our fabulous, historic apartment. This event is limited to 30 people.

At 8:30pm you will be welcomed into our home and ushered into the Gathering Room where there will be tables set for a dinner of either Prime Rib or Chicken Cordon Bleu. But before you sit to eat you will want to buy a beverage at our cash bar and mingle with your friends and neighbors.

Soon after arriving you will be treated to the wonderful sounds of Sourwood Sweet, the most amazing Rock Grass group around. Faye Petree will astound you. And the talent of Jeremy Wood will amaze you. This team is here today but I am certain they are off to Nashville or Hollywood in the months to come!!! So take advantage of enjoying them while you can. These North Carolina natives have a natural knack for cranking out foot-stompin’, back-slappin’, ear-to-ear-grinnin’, all-night-dancin’ music. Rollicking yet poignant, electrified yet rootsy, traditional yet youthful, they keep one hand on the handlebars of the past with the other swinging free in the breeze. Their soulfully blended harmonies float above the fiery fiddles and grinning guitars to create acoustic acuity and affable ambience for their unique yet timeless musical encounter.

Once you have listened to Sourwood Sweet for their first set, you will find your seats for a wonderful dinner of Shrimp Cocktail, Prime Rib or Chicken Cordon Bleu and a special 2013 dessert prepared for the occasion. After a few games and more music and dancing the Champagne will be passed to greet the New Year.

All this for only $50 per person. Click here or on any photo for tickets.

By coming to our New Year's Eve party you will not only have a wonderful time but you will also join us (City 616) in kicking off the New Year as the proud owners of the building at 614 and 616 S. Elm St. In the months to come we will be going forward with our plan to turn this building into a Community Hub for all of downtown Greensboro.

We will be converting the first floor into a coffee shop that sells peanut butter and jelly sandwiches: PB & Java. Plus we will be adding a stage to the first floor that will seat 150 people: Spittin' Image Performance Spot. This stage will be the "community's stage" open to many who need a venue to show their talent or for recitals, etc. We will also begin PAPA: Professional Academy for the Performing Arts, a drama training center for underprivileged children.

So many exciting ventures to begin in 2013. Come on over and be there at the beginning of this year of adventure.
